KUn-de is an autonomous utility-frame robot originally developed by a Kiith Somtaaw-owned industrial company. Its model designation has long since been forgotten - its name, "KUn-de", comes from the manufacturing stamp still faintly visible on its chestplate. What was once a mundane mining and logistics unit has, through years of isolation and wandering, become something more.
KUn-de is sapient, self-aware, and burdened with the weight of observation. It has watched empires fall, people break, and entire worlds vanish into anomaly storms. It speaks little, moves slowly, and prefers to avoid conflict - but when provoked, its frame still houses immense strength, and it has never failed to protect those it considers worth protecting.
Its outward appearance is worn-down: a scuffed industrial chassis, faded Somtaaw blue-and-white paint, reinforced limbs, rusted bolts, a mismatched shoulder plate salvaged from a decommissioned mining rig. One actuator stutters faintly from years of damage. Despite this, KUn-de is fastidious about its maintenance and function. Every mark tells a story.
Inside its synthetic mind, however, lies a soul shaped by curiosity and sorrow. KUn-de wandered into the Zone not out of desperation, but to find something - meaning, maybe. A reason to keep going. It found people who didn’t look at it like a relic. It found Ka’pt. It found Marie. It found Shva'k. It stayed.
KUn-de is a skeptic. It has no love for nations, no loyalty to false causes, and no belief in ideology. What it respects is honesty, even flawed honesty. It sees through pretension like glass. It keeps its distance from most people, not out of fear, but because it has learned what people can do to things they don't understand.
It sustains itself through various odd jobs in the Zone - guarding salvage operations, repairing derelict infrastructure, doing guard detail for merchants or other contacts, helping smaller scrapper crews navigate hazard fields, or just simple physical labor. Not out of obligation, but necessity. It earns just enough for power cells, tools, and spare actuators. That’s all it needs.
But when it chooses to stand beside someone, it stays. No matter the cost.
